Internship Program (Boston only)
ELC’s Internship Program is designed to give students the opportunity to practice their language skills in a professional environment and to establish a network of colleagues in the student’s field of interest. The Internship Program begins with required study in our Intensive English Program (30 lessons per week). Students must study a minimum of four weeks and must achieve a high intermediate level of English. During the Intensive English Program, students will meet weekly with ELC Internship Placement staff who will guide them through the Internship application and interview process. Internships are confirmed when the student has successfully completed the company interview and been accepted as an intern by the company. ELC will make every effort to make industry-specific placements but cannot guarantee this. The type of tasks to be done during the internship will vary with factors such as student age, student experience, student English ability, and the needs of the hosting company. The Internship is intended as an opportunity for students to practice their English skills in a professional environment.
After the student enrolls, ELC will ask that they choose three fields of interest from the list below so we can determine which Internship would best fit each student. During the student’s Intensive English course, ELC will work on their resume, cover letter, and interviewing skills. Their potential interviews with various companies will also be arranged in the evenings, after classes, to insure that the student secures an internship by the time their course is completed.
