Through ELC's long experience with students at all levels and from countries all over the world, we have developed teaching techniques and programs that really work. In addition, our 10-level placement system allows us to place students into different levels in different classes or skill areas. Careful placement and program selection ensure that you will be studying English in the learning environment that is best for you.

General Program Highlights:

  • Programs from 10 - 30 lessons per week (each lesson = 50 minutes)
  • 15 official start dates per year (non beginners may begin any Monday)
  • classes year round
  • 10 levels, beginning through advanced
  • Study for any duration, 1 to 52 weeks
  • Average class size: 7 - 9 students (max. 12); July and August average: 10 - 12 students (max. 14)

Intensive English Program

This 30-lesson per week program is ELC's most popular and covers all of the major language skills including: grammar, vocabulary, conversation, pronunciation, listening comprehension, reading, and writing. All intermediate and advanced students also have a choice of electives two afternoons per week. Students in the Intensive English Program study Monday through Friday during sections A, B and C on the course schedule listed above.

  • Afternoon electives for non-beginning students
  • Taking 30 lessons per week maximizes your study time in the U.S.
  • Classes meet Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 3:30pm

Semi-Intensive Plus Program

The Semi-Intensive Plus Program at ELC is designed to promote communicative competence in English and consists of Sections A and B (described above) Monday through Friday, and Section C on Tuesday and Thursday. Classes are from 9:00am to 12:45pm each day with afternoon classes from 1:45pm to 3:30 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. Intermediate and advanced student will study one of our special electives.

Semi Intensive Plus Program Highlights:

• Full morning classes with electives in the afternoons
• Open to students at any level, beginning through advanced
• 24 lessons qualifies as full-time study for student visa holders
• Classes meet Monday through Friday, 9:00am – 12:45pm
and Tuesday & Thursday 1:45pm – 3:30pm

Semi-Intensive English Program

Also one of ELC's most popular programs, this 20-lesson per week course is designed to improve communication skills and is perfect for students who want to study English in the mornings and enjoy ELC's beautiful cities in the afternoons. Students enrolled in this program meet for classes during sections A and B, as shown in the General Course Schedule listed above.

Semi Intensive English Program Highlights:

  • Communication course for general English users
  • Open to students at any level, beginning through advanced
  • Taking 20 lessons per week allows for free time in the afternoons
  • Does not qualify for 120 form (acceptance letter issued upon request).
  • Classes meet Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 12:45pm

Individual Intensive English Program

Students of any level may choose to study English on a one-to-one basis. In such cases, you will find the scheduling is quite flexible. The course of study, based on an initial needs assessment, can be tailored to meet your individual goals and requests.

Individual Intensive English Program Highlights:

  • ELC's most flexible course
  • Private, one-to-one, lessons
  • Open to students at any level, beginning through advanced
  • Customized course can include General English or English for Specific Purposes
  • Classes meet every morning or design a custom schedule to fit your needs

Combination Course

This program is designed for students who wish to combine group work in General English with individualized work in a special area of English, such as Business English, legal English or medical English. Students in the Combination Course study General English (20 lessons per week) during sections A and B of the class schedule listed above and take private classes (10 lessons per week) during section C.

Combination Course Highlights:

  • Combines General English group classes with private, custom-designed lessons
  • Open to students at any level, beginning through advanced
  • Classes meet Monday through Friday 9:00am -3:30pm

Part-time Program

Students with limited time for studying English may choose to enroll for one period per day (A, B, or C only). Please note that part-time students are not eligible for the I-20 or housing assistance.

Part Time Program Highlights:

  • Ideal for people living in the U.S. with only a limited time available each day for language study
  • Open to students at any level, beginning through advanced
